Born and raised in Prague, the capital city of Czechoslovakia (todays Czech Republic), Marcela pursued her initial studies and degree in biochemistry.
Her specialization was in the pharmaceutical industry. Her first 2 jobs were in the Endocrinology Research Institute and The Veterinarian Institute/Chemistry department in Prague. She continued her career in the US, working for Bio-Rad Laboratories in Quality Control for 13 years. Beginning as a chemist, Marcele excelled and worked her way up to Manager of the diagnostic control laboratory.
As her daughter began taking horseback riding lessons, Marcela's lifelong passion flared to life once again. Ever since Marcela was a little girl she loved all animals, but horses, dogs and cats were her favorites. While living in Prague she always dreamt about living in the country on a farm and be surrounded by all the farm animals.
Pursuing a lifelong dream, in 2003 Marcela took the steps necessary to fulfill her passion for animals. She completed certifications needed to be able to leave a lucrative career in bio-tech and begin a new life, applying her intelect and skills to serving the creatures she loved so much.
Sound Equine & Canine Care, formerly Equine Body Works, was founded by Marcela Perez in 2004, and continues to bring healing and a loving touch to horses and dogs throughout Southern California.
